Questions & Answers
Is it worth repairing my Miele?
The short answer is yes. Miele's vacuum cleaner motors are built to last for years; models like the Guard L1 have even been tested for 20 years of use. Issues arise, however, when Miele owners do not properly maintain their vacuums or use lesser quality bags and filters that allow dirt and debris to enter the motor compartment. So a repair or tune-up is usually a smart choice and costs much less than buying a new vacuum.
How much does Miele repair cost?
It depends on the model and what's wrong. If it is running but not performing well, we offer a free estimate. We want to see what is wrong and the condition of your vacuum so we can properly assess if it makes sense to repair your Miele vacuum. Prices start at $40, with more for labor-intensive jobs.
How long does a Miele repair take?
Every repair is different, so we can't promise a time frame until we've seen your vacuum. We'll tell you up front if a part has to be ordered and provide you an expected completion date.
Why do you charge a diagnostic fee if it doesn't turn on?
We don't want to guess, and more importantly, we don't want to miss an issue that could have damaged other components. A $65 diagnostic fee covers our time and allows us to provide you a complete assessment and itemized estimate of what work needs to be done to get your Miele vacuum running again. We will credit $25 of the diagnostic fee toward the total repair cost when you approve the work.
The brushroll on my Electro Powerbrush has stopped working. Do I need to buy a new one, or can it be fixed?
Sometimes all your Miele Electro Powerbrush needs is a little love by going through and servicing the entire power nozzle. If there is no power at all, first turn the vacuum off and back on. If it doesn't come back on, bring in your entire vacuum, hose, wand and Electro Powerbrush so we can help you figure out if it is a simple neck replacement, a minor repair or in need of replacement.
Do I need to service my Miele Triflex cordless vacuum?
The Triflex series has been out a few years now, and we recommend having your Miele Triflex vacuum inspected after 3-4 years, depending on use, to determine if you should service the vacuum or not. This will help maintain your Triflex's performance, reduce excess heat and increase the life of your vacuum.
Why does my Miele smell?
Odors usually come from a full bag, dirty filters or debris trapped in the hose or power brush. You should consider having your vacuum serviced if the problem isn't resolved by changing the bag or filters. Sometimes odors can get "baked" into the vacuum, which we can treat when you opt for our Complete Service. Our Complete Service and tune-up includes a tank wash, odor treatment, motor service, new filters, electrical inspection and bench test.
Do you do Miele warranty repairs?
Yes. We are an authorized Miele service center in Orlando, and all of our Miele repairs are done at our store using original Miele parts. Bring your proof of purchase for warranty work.
Why has my Miele lost suction?
Most often it's an obstruction blocking the airflow. Check for a full bag, a dirty filter or a clog in the hose, wand or power nozzle. If you aren't able to get your Miele vacuum going, please come in with the entire machine for a free estimate.
How often should I change the bag?
Look for the bag indicator to show about 3/4 to completely full. Waiting too long may make the bag hard to remove. After vacuuming up any fine powder, replace your bag regardless of how full it looks. Always make sure to use genuine Miele bags to protect your vacuum's motor and improve the air quality. Lesser quality bags and filters have the potential to damage the motor as well as reduce the air quality.
How often should I replace the HEPA filter?
About once a year under normal use. Replace it sooner if you have pets, allergies or a large home. Never look at the top of the filter and assume it is still good. Real Miele HEPA filters stop all the dust and allergens from passing through, so the exhaust side will never look dirty or gray.
Why does my Miele shut off by itself?
Miele motors have thermal protection that shuts the vacuum off when it overheats, usually from a full bag, a clogged filter or a blockage. Clear the problem, let it cool and try again. If it keeps shutting off, bring it in.
My Miele cord won't rewind. Can you fix it?
Yes. The cord reel is inside the canister, and forcing it can make things worse. Bring it in and we'll repair it with original Miele parts.
Need a part instead?
Shop genuine Miele parts and accessories, or call and we'll find the right fit.
